Truth: challenges are a part of human existence.
Myth: you have to face these challenges alone.

Reaching out for help may feel uncomfortable or unnecessary, you may even think “counseling just isn’t for me.”  I believe that seeking help is a strength and not a weakness.  Taking the first step begins your unique process of healing and I hope you may find courage, peace, and comfort as you move forward.

Becoming a counselor has been a journey of congruency for me.  I’ve felt a strong desire to help others for as long as I can remember.  As a person-centered counselor, I believe in the capacity for growth and healing within individuals.  I aspire to create a warm, safe, and comfortable environment for my clients.  My approach to counseling is grounded in the belief that people strive to discover and be their true selves, which can be achieved through a therapeutic relationship based on non-judgement, empathy, and genuineness.  My role as a counselor is to provide encouragement, support, boundaries, and resources in order to help my clients work towards their desired goals of counseling.

I enjoy working with issues of anxiety, depression, grief, sexual trauma, relationship concerns, parenting, and the stressors of life.

My passion in counseling lies in working with pregnant and postpartum moms and their partners.  As the mother of two young boys, I’m aware of the challenges and joys that come along with pregnancy and parenthood.  I find great purpose in being a support to clients who are working through the challenges of becoming pregnant, pregnancy, the postpartum period, parenting, and loss.  Becoming a parent has the expectation of being a joyous time, yet in reality there can also be times of isolation, uncertainty, and fear.  If you’re trying to conceive,  pregnant, a new mom, or the partner, friend, or loved one of a new mom, I’m here for support.  For parents who have newborns, I welcome babies to join the sessions if childcare is a concern.

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern (LPC-Intern) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC).  I received my Masters in Science at the University of North Texas where I was trained to counsel children (play therapy), teens, and adults.  My undergraduate degrees include a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Women's Studies from the University of Kansas.

I completed my clinical internship at Hope's Door where I worked with individual's affected by intimate partner violence.

I'm a member of Postpartum Support International (PSI) and I have a certificate of completion in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders from PSI.
